A woman’s purse or handbag says something about who she is as much as her choice of clothing does. After all, a handbag is a fashion accessory just as much as an overcoat or the shoes that one chooses. A handbag though has additional qualities that offer even deeper insights about a person.

Colors and patterns can tell you a lot about the woman as well. A different color purse to match the color of all her different outfits say that she is detail oriented and prefers organization. She is also more concerned with appearances. A single color regardless of the color of her clothing says that she is more practical and less concerned with appearances. Trendy patterns or colors suggest someone who wants to be seen as on top of things and worries about being left out of groups and social circles.

The material of the handbag is also an indicator of its owner’s personality. A vinyl handbag says that the owner isn’t concerned with permanence; things come and go in her life with nary a thought once they’re gone. A woman with a more durable leather handbag, on the other hand, prefers things that last and offer some stability in her life. A well cared for leather handbag lasts for many years. During that time she’ll grow comfortable with it and know without looking what items are in the bag and can often find just what she needs from inside without even looking. She knows exactly what to expect and she likes it that way. That attitude may extend to the people around her as well.

A woman’s handbag is both functional and a style statement. As such, it offers information both about she wants to be seen and about her inner self. Perhaps that’s why many women are very particular about choosing handbags.
