Mission Statement
USAction unites people locally and nationally -- on-the-ground and online -- to create an America that works for all of us. We lead the nation's strongest progressive coalitions by organizing issue and election campaigns to achieve social, racial, and economic justice. USAction works every day with real people, in real places, for real change.
Organization Overview
USAction, with state affiliates in half the country, is active in cities, suburbs and small towns; our base is both low-income and middle-income people. TrueMajority.org, our online grassroots education and advocacy arm, is the third largest online progressive organization in the country. Very few other groups organize across such a broad swath of constituencies and geographies.
USAction's Invest in America's Future (IAF) issue agenda -- to safely end the war, achieve quality health care for all, and win economic opportunity for everyone in America -- is our positive vision, based on our values of community, shared responsibility, and the belief that we are in this together.
Our Major Issues and Coalitions
Iraq Campaign 2008
USAction helps lead the Iraq Campaign 2008, a broad national coalition of social justice, peace and grassroots organizations allied to create a mandate to safely end the war in 2009. We make the connection between the cost of the war in Iraq and domestic economic issues, and mobilize the grassroots and netroots to keep these issues in the public eye.
Economic Opportunity & Justice: Emergency Campaign for America's Priorities (ECAP)
ECAP is a broad-based coalition of progressive organizations, labor unions, and social service groups organized to reverse the country's upside-down economic priorities. Since 2007, our signal campaign effort has been to expand SCHIP. We also prioritize advocating for raising the minimum wage; giving Medicare the power to bargain with drug companies; lowering the cost of student loans; and repealing tax benefits for the oil and gas industry so that America can fund alternate energy programs.
Quality Affordable Healthcare For All: Health Care for America NOW!
USAction has just helped launch Health Care for America NOW! -- a coalition creating a nationwide movement to win the implementation of quality, affordable health care for all. USAction Executive Director Jeff Blum is one of three campaign co-chairs. Of the 52 press events across the country on the July 8 launch, 60% were coordinated by USAction's state affiliates.
